Crossplay Vowel Dumps: Words for an All-Vowel Rack

Short words that unload three or more vowels, with point values, and the rack-balance rules that go with them.

The all-vowel rack

Every Crossplay player has drawn A E I O U I E and stared at it. The bag has 100 tiles and roughly 42 of them are vowels (A×9, E×12, I×9, O×8, U×4), so vowel floods are routine. The wrong answer is to pass; the right answer is a vowel dump: a short word that unloads three or more vowels, ideally while hooking a bonus square, so the next draw balances the rack.

This page lists every four- and five-letter word in the solver's dictionary with at most one consonant (83 words); for three-letter options see the vowel-heavy section of the three-letter word list. Values are base values using Crossplay tile values.

These are the pure escape hatches: AA, AE, AI, OE, EAU and friends. All are low-value, so play them across a double-word square if you can — the point is rack repair, not the score.

How to use a vowel dump well

Keep one vowel. Dumping all of them leaves you with a consonant rack next turn, which is the same problem in reverse. The ideal leave is one vowel and a mix of consonants.
Dump parallel to a word. Vowels form two-letter words with almost anything, so a vowel dump laid alongside an existing word scores several cross-words at once.
Exchange if the bag is full. Early in the game, swapping four vowels is often better than a 6-point dump — you keep tempo for the +40 bonus later.
